Brought to you live by Paul dot com lol, I wish - the whole news reporting thing - no, unfortunately I am probably destined to be a hack knock off kind of reporter, no Guardian internship for ME LOL. Or even the New York Times, lol what minority could I masquerade as while cutting and pasting at fancy restaurants in downtown Manhattan. A la Jayson Blair LOL - or am I getting the name mixed up with that Law and Order episode hmm.
Anyways, first report is from the Guardian (surprise surprise) just thought I would give a mention to The Fiver, a humorous report on all things related to English and European football. Was Sven told the tactics by his players, when will Leeds stop selling - to those of you football inclined, and taking into consideration the Guardian is a Brit paper, those phrases will mean something LOL.
Hmm, another Westerner beheaded in the whole terrorism thing. My sympathy goes to the family. Let's go round up a few hundred more 'terrorists', detain them without charge and rip up their human rights - sure they may be dangerous, but why not at least charge them. Is this what the Civil War in the States was like, with Lincoln getting rid of habeaus corpus (I always get confused with what that means)? Think it's something to do with getting rid of the process of charging people when they are arrested? Someone more intelligent than me please explain LOL.
Ray Charles got a note from Bill Clinton at his funeral. I guess Dubya doesn't listen to blues - and Dirty Harry gave a eulogy as well, LOL would love to have a eulogy from Dirty Harry at my funeral. Hmm, lol with all this reality TV will celebraties ever have to downgrade their status with 'real' people becoming famous to ever get to reading at my funeral LOL - Dirty Harry or Kirsten Dunst (as an example, first off the top of my head) hmm decisions decisions LOL - video link to the States - OK, the coffee's started to work, I'm off on a tangent...
Euro 2004 soccer, Sweden drew with Italy and Denmark beat Bulgaria - let's have a look at my fantasy football squad - hmm, guess I will be getting rid of my Italian players before the knockout round LOL. Hmm, almost 80K out of 143K - not that bad, but I won't be getting a JVC TV or video camera I don't think.
Talking of reality TV, they had a real riot in the UK Big Brother house. Too much alcohol, too much clashing personalities, and the real clincher was that two girls the rest thought were evicted were just in a mini BB house and given 24 hour viewing of the house they had left as they were torn up and everything (verbally). Fast forward to their return and the aforementioned alcohol and personalities, and furniture broken and people threatening to kill each other and then the producers turned off the live web feed and sent security guards and paramedics in. Turned on the feed a couple of hours later, but they are only three weeks into the season - is it like down here and will last three months? Jeepers.
Aussie Big Brother has nothing as interesting - lol the tension points in the Aussie house are is that girl as dumb as she appears to be, how is it that that dickhead boy hasn't been nominated yet, and lol all the petty arguments - no real fights yet, apart from the non citizen and the very parochial guy arguing over what it means to be Australian. And that was weeks ago. And there was a mini drama as I described last week of the evictee protesting about refugee rights instead of talking on the show - he did a day later though, so all went back to normal - dickhead LOL.
Hmm, the 9/11 report. Take all the political spin most people are trying to make on it nowadays and it is really really sad what went on that day. Remembering back to that morning of September 12 (as it was in New Zealand) makes me very very sad and remembering the shock and everything. Probably my generation's Kennedy assassination moment - you know where you were. This is a VERY good editorial - what link between Saddam and September 11 is the basic thrust of the story.
Just over a week until the Canadian election, and hmm, the Tories look on track for a minority government, from the coverage I am reading. Whatever, it will be the most interesting election in the North for ten years at least, the whole political nation seems to be in flux. Kim Campbell anyone? Nah, I don't think the Libs will be wiped out, but they are infighting again, saw a story from a Martin adviser saying that Chretien supporters are deliberately sabotaging the poll. Mmm, or a better story, the Layton trip to Vancouver Island, may not be important in national politics, but damn it's pretty LOL.
Okies, that's gonna be it for the day - have things to check people to see LOL optometrists and all that.
Later taters
Paul
