Part the First
The future begins today LOL, but no, I'm not nervous about work, apart from the whole wow, five years since I did the newbie figuring out the pecking order thing. No, what I'm nervous about is the best friend INSISTING on contacting the ex... something I am against vehemently.
I'm here, the ex is there, there is bugger all likelihood that we will ever see each other again, but I like to stay on good terms with everyone, and ex & I email each other a couple times a week - what the hell is the point of the best friend rubbing her nose in it? True, they have never had too many nice words to say about each other, but the term let sleeping dogs lie comes to mind.
Was actually rehearsing my Goodbyes in the train coming in - yes, it could be that bad...
Part the Second
Okies, that was the before work thoughts, these are the after WORK ones - lol that word is good to write. Two guys, eight women in our training group (that we are going to constantly be around each other for about two or three months) - three Kiwis and a Brit, a Melburnian and a Canberraite as well LOL - if that last one is an actual word. Training was good - had the health and safety and induction thing by Dannic, was a bit dry, and he looked a bit nervous, had his head in the paperwork for most of it - although, to be fair, it was his first training session he had talked to. Hmm, bit of a success story for temping? He was a temp two years ago, got permanentised about six months later, a year after being made perm he was a team leader - lol Lexi, a fellow training member, was up from Melbourne and had waited five and a half years to be made permanent from temp.
Had a good trainer, Taryn I think the name was, was fast fast fast but leavened it (if that's the phrase) by a lot of humour. Spent morning tea with Rachel and Lexi, lunch with Sharon, Ann, Rachel and Lisa, and arvo tea with basically everyone.
Everyone being Mel (was late driving in traffic from the Gold Coast, left school in 2000), Lexi (married thirty years, three daughters down in Melb, came up to Queensland for the hubby's health, staying with friends at the Gold Coast), Kim - who I didn't really talk to at all today, Lisa (up from Canberra, worked for Telstra, has a boyfriend, lives out on the coast further along my railway line), Rachel (who is shaping up to be the funny one LOL, born and bred Queenslander), Jo (the English one, apart from that not much info LOL), Sharon (out at Bray Park, has a partner and kid, 5.5 years old, could be the stroppy strict one LOL), Wayne (Brisbanite, has worked for Telstra heaps before, could be the smart one LOL), and Ann - from Mangere in Auckland, has been in the country a year, has kids?
LOL Sharon seems quite homesick or something, very comparing which is not always a good thing. Ann seems nice and fairly level headed. I'm jealous of Wayne cos he knows more of the job/employer than me. Rachel is funny and cute. Lisa is cute. Mel and Kim are the young ones. Lexi is the mature one. And I haven't figured out Jo yet LOL. First impressions and all that.
So yeah, was learning all day about the company's products. A couple of easy activities. I think I came across as assertive but relaxed (asking questions volunteering to read stuff)? Went for a wander around one of the real floors lol and one of the girls there said 'we were you eight weeks ago'. Lots of potential in the position if I am staying in Brisbane though.
Just looking quickly at the news and sport, since I am going to have to readjust my whole online timing and stuff. Mmm, Sweden won their Euro 2004 game against the Bulgarians - and I have two of the scorers (Ljungberg and Larsson) in my fantasy team yayyyy! Italy and Denmark drew but...
Eh, I'm too sleepy to take notice of any other news story I think LOL.
Laters
