The Afternoon

Went and saw Wolf Creek at the cinema this afternoon. Pretty well a snap decision when I got on the bus, as I was angling to see The Proposition, which had its session half an hour after Wolf Creek started - so I was cutting it fine with getting to the mall in time. And then the bus was a few minutes late to get to my stop and there were people at EVERY bus stop on the way there.

Got there in time, and decided NOT to get anything to eat or drink beforehand - if the movie was as gruesome as the press has made it out to be, I did not think it would be appropriate to have popcorn - I was thinking of a Coke perhaps, but the candy bar cash register was having issues.

I dunno, maybe I have been desensitised too much, or maybe I had steeled myself for much much worse than what actually appeared on screen, but Wolf Creek to me just seemed as gory as Saw was, or perhaps the Blair Witch Project with a tad more blood, but as for sadistic and nasty hmm - the problem was, I could see someone like Mike wandering around the countryside, preying on tourists, and preying on them with as much violence as is in the movie.

Don't get me wrong, there is blood flying everywhere and gore and probably a bit of gratuitous violence, but not really anything that hasn't been on film before. And it is a horror movie - and murders happen everyday. The most realistic thing about it was the prime suspect being the wrong person - oh yes, Australian police forces and their reputations LOL. Good movie, for the horror genre, am sure it will make a lot of money...

Of course, after leaving the cinema, realised how tensed up I had become to prepare myself for the worst of the worst, and as I wandered around the mall - bought Once Were Warriors on DVD, another happy happy movie LOL - I felt a dull throb in my skull, maybe a stress headache or something. And was very glad that I didn't have anything to eat beforehand, either as movie snacks or lunch, thinking on the movie felt like voiding my stomach a few times afterwards. I ate lunch, but didn't take any pleasure in it...

Came home, had my first swim of the season, and water has stuck in my ear ever since - very annoying. Wanted to get rid of the stress headache, but picked up a chlorine based headache instead. Is a nice little lap pool though, although it didn't really cool me down at all.

And that has been my afternoon - will probably post more later tonight, am going to work on that water in ear problem I have grr LOL.

Later taters
Pauly
