A Sigh Of Relief, Kinda

Of course, if it had been real, the whole bomb threat yesterday, the first we would have heard about it would have been an explosion at Central Station, or some other vital infrastructure spot. Al Qaeda don't give warnings, we all forgot that yesterday.

The payphone that the apparently hoax calls came in from has been dusted for prints, and it has been noted that the maximum penalty for prank calls is seven years. Last night a bus was evacuated because of a suspicious package, which turned out to be a packet of popsicles.

And today, another rumour swept the office of another bomb threat. Quick case of nervous jitters, but nothing further came of it. Still felt somewhat claustrophobic at the train station when heading home. Still a bit of a stress headache through some of the day. You can almost see the people in the office start to think the unthinkable.

Grr, documentary on Karl Rove on SBS at the moment - currently on the 'marriage made in heaven' of Rove and Bush during the Texan governorship campaigns. Dubya as a polished candidate? Hmm, the guy who said it is a Republican, I guess we can forgive that comment. Hope Rove gets indicted due to the CIA leak thing... he probably won't though.

It's hard to think a year ago the Republicans were basking in the afterglow of the Bush re-election victory. What with Iraq, Katrina, Libby Meiers - not to mention Tom DeLay and the other issues not directly related to the White House.

And I saw this story earlier in the week, just didn't think it needed to be mentioned yesterday, with Alert Level Red around town and all, but just on to more happy happy news - there is mass starvation in sea birds off the California coast, eighty times the usual number of dead cormorants washing up on the beaches - all due to the sea temperature in that part of the North Pacific being seven degrees (Celcius) warmer than usual, the plankton which is the starting point of the marine food chain migrating north to cooler waters. Taking a deep breath here, lack of full stops previously in the paragraph LOL.

Geez, I sound like a Ben Elton book, don't I, what with the 'what the heck is wrong with the world' kind of angle...

Bertuzzi
got a hat trick in the game against the Red Wings though - just trying to even out the good news bad news thing LOL.

Later taters
