That was quite enjoyable last night, and needed it after the day I had. My system screwed up again and was down for about two hours, and when your system is down for two hours every minute can seem an aeon. Along with stress of not servicing the customers whose work I had already gotten bleah. Anyways, same old same old at work - oh, got my first monthly assessment, well the end of training one that if you remember we self assessed basically. Although Sandy said I was shy but wanted to learn, that was the only new bits I saw. Apparently Sharon got a bad one, and Mel's was kinda indifferent.
But anyways, left work at ten past four - yes, forty minutes beyond what I should have LOL, don't ask, and then before catching the guys for beers before the do, had to go 'window shopping' for DVDs and or CDs. Felt too rushed for CD buying, but got Apocalypse Now Redux on DVD, could have been that or Shawshank or Royal Tenenbaums, was tempted with the latter, but mmm with the Iraq war and the horror the horror and smell of napalm, yes was a clear winner on a one DVD buying day. Then caught up with Mel for half an hour, her hair is bright orange at the moment (dressed up as Vyvyan off the Young Ones for her 21st) and looks nice, and then Jo and Mel for another half hour, while waiting around for the others to turn up, at the Fihelly's bar at the train station. Hmm, lol that bar hmm LOL - Feebs for New Years last year LOL, and hmm a couple of weeks ago with Jo and her mates and the regulars.
Wandered up to the Crest Carlton, apparently quite a classy hotel, and then milled around in the lobby area (of the 2nd floor) for about half an hour or so, while drinks were also milled around us. Light beer, regular beer, red and white wine, champers, orange juice - everyone was so dressed up to the nines, was nice to see. Stood with the regulars before they went for a smoke break and the dinner room doors opened - Mel's top was nice, Lisa had a suit jacket on, suited her (no pun intended), Lexie had a really really nice green scarf...
So basically all my 'lot' were late to get to a table, but didn't really matter cos my table was quite good to sit at - yes, a sit down meal and all, not a buffet or finger food, and REAL butter for the first time since I think I left Canada if not even before, on nice bread rolls - and yo-yos as our Telstra prezzie. Sitting around my table by the time everyone got in were Kirsty, Adrian, Khalinh, Kate, Melanie (G), Kim, some guy from around Data area, Paul W, Kylie, and Ann. Melanie and Kylie's tops especially were quite impressive, but everyone was looking good.
The senior managers did a quick spiel about how well we were doing, and also a quick video and powerpoint thing with whoomp dere it is y'all ready for this old skool thumping music LOL. I heard bits and pieces but wasn't really concentrating on it, lol was asked about it by Maureen and Sue this morning, had it enthused me to work more or harder, and I suaved my way through that potential minefield, I wasn't listening LOL by saying that I was always enthused about work, which they agreed that I was. Woohoo, bullet dodged LOL, and my bosses like me. Anyways, back to last night.
Was nice chatting to everybody, and after the main course, went and socialised a bit more - wandered over and sat down with Sharon, Lisa and Mel, who had one of the big bosses on their table, and then Glen came over and sat with us, and Melanie was basically bopping out of her top, well not quite LOL, and then Glen found the piano and there was almost a Fabulous Baker Boys moment but then Melanie dropped wine down Glen's pants LOL. Yes, you can see a general disintegration of the night LOL. The dancefloor was busy, and as Ann said today, she was surprised I knew all the words to all the songs - Murder on the Dancefloor is the one that sticks in my mind.
Went down and sat with the girls for their smoke break in the downstairs bar, and then went outside and got mauled (in a nice way) by Ursula - top chick Ursula, as Ryan off Big Brother would say. Danced with Sharon for a bit, hmm to Sweet Home Alabama - now surely there is a positive connotation that song brings up, well, apart from the movie LOL - maybe it was off Remember the Titans as well? But yeah, omg blast from the past, work parties at IRD just came to mind LOL. And then the tab on the bar was shut off, and wandered downstairs to smoker central again.
Sat with Sharon, Trevor, Jo, Mel, Lisa and newbie of the night, Sarah from Billing - very pretty, has noticed me in the lifts apparently, only twenty but - LOL it was like with the rest of us, meet Activations where's the piss LOL - eh, I'm sure the quietness can be shorn away, such big eyes as well LOL - all the better hmm no won't go with the big bad wolf teeth line just now LOL. Bought a round of B52s, just cos, and there was a beer as well that Trevor was getting, then Lisa and I headed off to the station but had just missed the 10.54 train - and amazingly there was a near midnight train - I was CERTAIN that the elevenish train was the last one during the normal week, but whew, I was wrong (for ONCE). Wandered back to the hotel, Sarah was just in the process of leaving, but the rest of the guys were there, and another B52 later LOL. Made sure I got to the train station well in advance of the definitely last train for the night, but somehow lost Lisa along the way. Got home at about twenty to one, gave V a quick ring, and then basically crashed.
Bright and early at five thirty this morning woohoo up again LOL. Wasn't dead on my feet at work today, although a lot of water, V and powerade was drank. And I feel I was peppy enough when talking to customers, although fuck, on the phone for another hour to the Helpdesk, maybe THIS time I will get the new LAN cable LOL. Was quite quiet at work today overall.
Okies, din dins time here
