Two Days Catch Up

Hey all - well, if that is the Xmas party season, I have had it - have a Xmas lunch for the team and secret Santa Friday week, but Xmas lunches aren't the same as drinkie Xmas sessions LOL. Thursday was a bit of a damp squib actually, only Sharon and her partner turned up that I knew for the temping agency party. Jo sent me an IM at work yesterday to say that she was in the mood for a beer, but that I had already gone by the time she was in that mood - lol, damned shift work :)

So Sharon and I headed off to the pub to wait for Damien to turn up, had a quick beer, dissected the day LOL, and then headed off to the agency. NO ONE else from my group at work was there, and had a few beers and sausage rolls and the usual nibbles but Sharon and Damien got bored, so off we went. Hmm, maybe I should visit the agency more LOL, a few attractive women that I wouldn't have minded talking to more, but eh, it's the whole the people I know are leaving, do I want to look sad and be by myself - true, it's a work situation and I shouldn't really feel like that, but I haven't been down there since my initial interview, so it is kind of like a pub socialising situation.

Wandered off, had Hungry Jacks, yum, and there was the rumour that we would pub nearer the train station, but nah, got straight to the station, on the next train and talking on the way home - mmm Red Dwarf LOL. Got home at about hmm 8.45 I think - early early.

Last night was good - first thing was getting changed into my Dr Livingstone or Michael Caine in Zulu outfit - well, obviously the latter when he wasn't redcoating LOL. Did that about five minutes before the end of my shift and went back to my desk to clean it up for the weekend, and Kim and Khalinh, yeah, I was going to say smiled at my outfit, but they really laughed LOL, and that was WITHOUT the safari hat LOL. And then walking through town with the sunglasses on so I could just ignore the funny looks. Got to the venue, we were setting up, and I was chief balloon carrying boy, since obviously I can't tie either the balloons or string on - cute girl on the staff there who had been assigned to us for the evening said, after I had failed the tying job that 'oh mi god you are unco' LOL. Unco meaning uncoordinated of course - but despite making that first impression, she was smiley enough to me the rest of the evening LOL. Best way to keep it Pauly, don't even ask their names LOL, and DON'T go down there to try and catch up with her again LOL LOL.

So yes, I was balloon carrying from the set up room to the bar and releasing balloons boy in the bar, and carrying the prizes as well - and of course making good impressions in the main with a wider group of people than I usually deal with at work (more hi in the lift type buddies LOL). And then was on the door with Anna, Tina and Renee for the first half hour - I was back up to Anna who was checking off the list, any curly ones came over to me, had three - and basically I would then go to Annette to have a yay or nay - tried doing the whole decision myself thing once and they turned out to be another section of Telstra not ours, out they went fifteen minutes later LOL. So my job was to screw up LOL.

My floor people didn't turn up until fashionably late, and first lot through the door were Glen and the bosses LOL. I mean, I love talking to Maureen but she does praise me LOL calling me a star in front of other bosses and I'm not the best in that situation - do I still blush I wonder? Anyways, yeah it wasn't until ages until the usual suspects turned up. Hmm, sometimes it is a good thing to be the only male survivor (Survivor Brisbane, I can see the show now) out of our intake, what with Sharon, Mel, Lisa, Jo and Kim being your work socialising group LOL. My outfit was quite the hit apparently, got commented on a lot - and not just the pith (which is another name for safari helmet apparently) jokes either.

Had a quick chat to Robyn and Alan, then next people were Kylie and Adrian and Khalinh (the first two do make a nice couple, have to say). And then Ursula popped up as she does and that girl is a little mini hurricane, but a nice one that doesn't actually do any damage but swirls around like a top LOL - she said to me that she likes me but I'm not QUITE her type, but her type enough to hug and kiss on the cheek - hmm, remembering back to the Tuesday Senior Management evening a few months back, wasn't just the cheek then - if that's the basis of not her type, hmm I want a second opinion, I was surprised LOL that's it :) nice girl though, and if I were singleish LOL LOL...

Not quite last Friday at all - the memories are more a flow than the vignettes of that night - they had pictures on one of the computer drives at work, and I was in only one of them (good) - and when on earth did the tequila come out LOL?

Had a quick chat to Trevor - hmm, I dunno, I just feel uncomfortable talking to him or something, especially after we scarpered the other month when he came out to the pub, but had a good quick chat. Chris from the seventh floor, dressed as a dark angel (had on a tshirt with the adult warning thing), was saying that I was his nemesis - hmm, we do the same thing for different customers, I thought nemesis was doing different things for the same customers? Nice guy though, although very VERY camp LOL. As I was passing the bar, got hugged by Sara, the 19 year old with eyes that people could drown in (in a good way), who said are you going to save me (yes those exact words) tonight - as in, the Senior Management night, I guess we, the usual suspects moreso than just me, saved her from boredom or something.

Which leads me onto the mini dramas in the usual suspects last night - Sara was flirting massively with Mel, and Mel wasn't sure whether to respond or not - she said to us that she was avoiding her, and was afraid of her girlfriend's reaction if anything did happen, but not twenty minutes later Mel and Sara were leaning in to each other talking - well, they were on the noisy dancefloor, but still LOL... and someone had let slip to Kim that Khalinh liked her, and that was the other mini scandal of the evening LOL. Although after about eight or so, they were talking almost exclusively to each other, and Khalinh did drop Kim off in the Valley for her to kick the evening on - well, that was the story when they were leaving...

Michael and Jo B turned up and had a quick chat to them - another nice couple, and Michael out of work is a laugh and a half :) Finally admitted to Sharon that, I am intimidated by attractive women and that last Friday I was avoiding one to avoid making a dickhead out of myself, and that that one was Melanie - eh, she's told me far more umm intimate things LOL - Sharon that is. Sharon's reaction to my admission was that Melanie is a sweety... hmm, we will see if that thread of a story runs :)

Oh, got on the dancefloor for a bit - not during Crazy Like That (Beyonce) or Tainted Love or It's Getting Hot in Here LOL LOL especially on that last one, but would have liked to, but no one I knew was on the floor at that stage - but I did get on when Lisa and Mel and Jo were on, and Sharon joined us, and was on for about four maybe five songs all up - the girls left and was with Renee and Tina - by this time I had lost the hat THANK GOODNESS, eww a safari hat on the dancefloor LOL - lost as in placed it out of the way not lost lost LOL. Tina said I thought you would be gone by now, and I said (with a smile) what would give you that impression. Then Jo and Sharon came back and then off to the balcony again - the place we had it at was the traditional Queensland type of pub (think Slim Dusty and pub with no beer land LOL) two storey, big windows, big balcony around the outside of the upstairs floor...

And yes, just generally had a nice night - stuck by the usual crowd for most of it, but did talk around a bit as well. Didn't drink too much, about five or six beers and a bourbon, over the period of time it was a quiet one - and yeah, it was nice. No worries about reports back on Monday this week, apart from the telling Sharon about Melanie thing, but that was started from my side, so eh, see where it goes with interest rather than fear and horror LOL.

Left at about 11 with Sharon, Jo, Lisa, Mel and Di - who had to catch a bus, and Lisa and Mel peeled off at Queen Street with her, Lisa was saying something about hitting another pub, but Sharon, Jo and myself got to the train station, had the usual twisties LOL and talked on the train home - lost my bet with Sharon about Phil making a move, the night wasn't over but his girlfriend had turned up - eh, for the cost of $20 have had an interesting aside in the conversations for hmm two months now - well worth it :)

Saw Annette as we were leaving on the other side of the road with a big bunch of flowers - an idea the rest of our committee had. Because basically, Annette was running the show, we were communicating to staff but apart from that the rest of us were riding on her coattails LOL. Especially was embarrassed when people were saying great party you have thrown, and I was like doing my usual shrinking into the floor thing. Good night had by most, if not all :)

And it did get me talking to more people than just my own group - and hmm, some of the outfits the women were wearing :)

Might do a websurfing entry now - or I may go into town - movies to see, presents to buy yanno... Saw, or Team America World Police - the first one is better time frame for me...
