LOL, was thinking of titling tonight's entry World News Tonight, with Peter Jennings - out of the broadcast channels in the States, ABC News usually got my vote, and Mr Jennings always used to have the most soothing voice. Just comparing it in my head to the talking heads on CNN, if I listened to them in detail I usually always got headaches - hear that Wolf Blitzer and Robert Novak LOL.
Woke up this morning to the news that an Air France A340 had slid off the runway and almost onto the '401' (busiest road in Canada) and burst into flames. Apparently landed in a huge thunderstorm, and got struck by lightning - amazingly, all 309 people on board got out before the plane caught fire. When I woke up and heard the tail had fallen off in a huge fireball, I was sure that it would be akin in death toll to that Air India flight in 1985. Phew.
Fourteen US marines have been killed today after their vehicle was hit by an IED in Iraq. And six soldiers in a sniper team yesterday were killed in an ambush. Not a great start to August, although it is continuing from July 24 - 39 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since that date.
I think the butterflies have been killed LOL, or at least stamped on to within a breath of their lives. Had my first passing conversation with TDE since last Wednesday, and was an awkward tongue tied sense about it all - of course, thirty second liftwell conversations are never the easiest of convos, easier to go with the cliches of hi and how you doing and good and such. At least I found out that UPE got home OK the other night, even though she can't remember how.
Work was very grr today, especially the afternoon - not sure whether it was the annoying customer requests (the requests were annoying, not the customers) or the fact that I didn't have a V drink all day.
Day off tomorrow, yay - not up to much though, apart from saving money, damn my magpie instinct for nice shirts LOL.
