Donor Fatigue?

Nothing on TV for the night - Australia Unites on TV, the telethon to raise money for the tsunami relief. All the commercial stations and most of the major radio stations are doing a simultaneous broadcast. I saw a post in another blog earlier today which said that the overexposure of tsunami stuff the last couple of weeks is bringing a bit of desensitisation though, which I feel is true, and maybe I should watch less news or something to have a bit of a breather... I can avoid tsunami stuff on the net, pick and choose the stories more, but the TV news is all tsunami all the time.

Have made another million in the first 36 minutes of this telethon, to go with the other $115m the Aussie public has donated so far. I might do an SMS donation over the course of the evening... ooh, that was a good idea, someone's having a wedding tonight and instead of asking for gifts they said send donations - hope they got that out before the guests got the most expensive china LOL.

Ooh, just heard that one of my employer's competitors kicked in $250K, hmm, I am sure we will hear from my employer to either match or outdo that. Good to see the TV celebs from the different networks bouncing jokes and stuff off each other, Rove and Deal or no Deal guy and Bert Newton especially... for you out of towners, the google button is around somewhere LOL,

Canada is putting together two concerts for this thing, for both the CBC and CTV, CBC one in Toronto next week, and CTV in Vancouver on Jan 29, and possibly Calgary later on...

  1. I was wondering about the desentitization (how's that for bad spelling?) issue recently. It's a sad side effect of media coverage.
