First cab off the rank today, to pique my interest enough to open up Blogland LOL, is this one, about squirrel hunting in upstate Louisiana. They push the college football game forward a day and have Friday off as a holiday LOL, now these are serious squirrel hunters LOL. In the centre of Cajun territory as well - I like the line that they hunt anything in that part of the country, 'if E.T. came to Louisiana, he would be in the soup as well'. Sounds fun, the men off 'hunting' - ie, drinking beer, listening to the football game, cooking, playing cards LOL. It's a nice, sweet kind of article, and doesn't touch at all on politics or Iraq or anything - that is a rare thing in my reading brief lately LOL. There should be more stories with strange phrases like 'squirrel hunting' in the papers :)
Musicians for Kerry, apparently. A ten day tour by a lot of singers, Bruce Springstein, Dave Matthews, Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt, and John Mellencamp as the headliners, doing simultaneous concerts nightly, in eleven of the swing states. No Rockers for Bush or any similar kind of thing - first time Springstein has ever been political in this way, it seems - I guess he was pissed off that Reagan took his Vietnam song Born in the USA and made it rah rah LOL. Mmm, and the Dixie Chicks, nuff said, both on their politics and their good looks LOL LOL.
Mmm, and this link - I finally got around to googling The Daily Show last night - one of my fave regular shows when I was in Ottawa, and good segue into Jay Leno (we only get Letterman in Oz, sucks huh?), and added it to my fave sites, because of Jon Stewart's line, which was reported in a couple of the papers, that Bush's phrase of folks wanting to hurt the US meant to him the folks that go out for a Sunday meal at a nice restaurant LOL. This review is saying that Seinfeld was a show about nothing, whereas the Daily Show is a show about everything :) also saw a CNN link yesterday that said Daily Show viewers aced political questionnaires, hmm where was that link LOL... here 'tis - and Fox shot itself in the foot by calling Daily Show watchers 'stoned slackers' LOL, and omg, when they had Jon Stewart as a guest, bleah. Look at the stats at the bottom of that CNN article - Daily Show viewers are more likely to informed about politics, to be better educated, and to be richer. Rolls eyes, go Fox go LOL.
OMG, just saw an ad for a CNN special - The First Patient, catchline ' Even The Secret Service Can't Stop a Cold' - can everyone say 'puff piece journalism'? I know it's difficult to fill a news service 24/7, but puh-leez LOL. Ooh, but will it show Dubya's Dad throwing up over the Japanese PM LOL LOL.
It's a mad mad mad mad world, and for those who already feel crazy, who wake up and read the morning paper with dread and wonder if we'll ever wake up from our nightmare, well, have I got a movie for you. - Just the closing paragraph for the NY Times review of I Love Huckabees - not so much the movie or paragraph itself, but all the way up to the word 'nightmare' yes, the news and stuff nowadays does feel like that. More than just a few times as well... :(
Ah well, that is enough for the moment, more later :)
