Hmm, the Green Party back home (who do have MPs in Parliament, we have a form of proportional representation you know) is apparently putting together legislation for the New Zealand cricket team to get out of going to Zimbabwe. Hmm. Seems to have turned into a huge political football, but as the head of New Zealand Cricket, Martin Snedden, says in this article, they have signed up to a legal document that allows England and Australia to tour without endorsements, so you have to take the occasional bad tour as well.
Hmm, why pick on Zimbabwe when Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been warzones at times in the last twenty years. And as one of the Zimbabwean papers said, it's not as if New Zealand not touring will affect Mugabe's sleep at all. Legal document beats political football any day of the week - bloody Greens - and the government, if they go through with barring the Zimbabwean return trip later in the year, will probably sink our hopes of getting the 2011 World Cup, grrr.
Don't think it will end up like the Springbok tours, either in 1976 or 1981. Of course, I could be wrong.
