Desperate Housewives on in half an hour and not much to actually report on today. Hmm, well actually that's not true - remember back in October and November and I was doing almost daily reports on the health or as it turned out otherwise of the Kerry campaign and the whole US politics thing? Yes, no, or Paul I fell asleep during that phase of your blog - you can be honest now LOL.
Well we have a British election coming up in T minus three days, and hands up how many people are as excited over this as the Yankee thing? Put your hand down if you are actually British please - yeah, I thought so, not much of the rest of the world is showing an interest, even a Guardian reading anorak as myself LOL. Not that I'm not reading screeds about the thing (remember, there's a double negative, be careful people LOL), but the whole cut and paste aspect of putting it into my blog hmm just isn't coming as much to me as it was during the US campaign.
Maybe it's because I'm finding ways to write about my real life, away from websurfing, better, or shock horror it may be more entertaining, but until I get the comment 'OMG Pauly I wish I had your life' I don't think that is it - and no, fake protestations of my wonder will not count either. Much as I would like to preen my self confidence, I do know I am but a little fish that 'has potential' in the blog world. Like the other four million blogs that haven't hit the big time LOL - oops wait half a second there's another fifty thousand to compete against.
Or maybe it is because the election is almost flat out boring. The Labourites are sneaky and liars, the Conservatives are racist and seemingly a one issue party, and God help us if ever the Lib Dems got in. The economy as far as I can tell from this distance is chugging along OKish, the health system is getting better, education is still a bit patchy, and no one is daring to speak about Europe, even though there's supposed to be a constitution referendum next year. Or, if not the constitution, if the French and or Dutch torpedo that, surely there will be SOME sort of European vote SOMETIME during Blair's tenure. He has been promising that since he got elected, if I remember correctly...
No, I prefer the theory that my life is getting more interesting LOL. Was a public holiday in Queensland today, Labour Day on May 1, very Communist, and the unions were complaining about Joh Bjelke-Peterson getting a state funeral after all he did in the eighties to try and crush the unions. Now I am as anti union as anyone in the centre left LOL (how do you justify THAT position Pauly - don't worry, I will maybe write how some of my more bizarre political positions have come about in one of these posts one day) and I prefer not to belong to one myself, but there is a difference between freedom of association and kicking people's heads in. But there is something fundamentally different between my parents and I about this issue - they have always seen unions as a threat, whereas I am more one irritant among many...
Anyone want to hear about how I figured out my politics? No, thought not, LOL, but if some of you do, please leave a comment, or send in answers on the back of a postcard.
Of much more interest is SG and the absent LD lol. Not much happened today at work, but SG and I are progressing well (as workmates, get your minds out of the gutters LOL) given it has only been a full week tomorrow. More perhaps after Desperate Housewives :)
Oh, and have to go searching for Logie dress piccies LOL.
